The Hidden Media feature helps detect media that standard Android apps might overlook. MediaRescue checks signals such as hidden directories, .nomedia folders, files missing from MediaStore indexing, deeply nested paths, and media stored in unusual locations.

For users who need deeper Android storage access, MediaRescue offers optional Shizuku-based Advanced Scanning. Advanced Scanning helps discover files inside locations such as Android/data and Android/obb without requiring root access. The feature is designed for file discovery and uses a focused, read-only approach.

MediaRescue includes a dedicated Home dashboard, Gallery, Search, Browse, Hidden Media, Large Files, Advanced Scanning, and an immersive media viewer for photos, videos, audio, and PDFs. Video playback supports full-screen landscape viewing, background playback, repeat playback, and screen wake control during active playback.

Privacy is a core part of MediaRescue. The app is designed for offline-first use, so your files stay on your device during normal scanning and discovery. No cloud storage or online account is required for the core file discovery experience.
